Biography
Patricia is an integrated researcher at Dinâmia’CET, Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon, and a visiting researcher at ARCHES - Antwerp Cultural Heritage Sciences, University of Antwerp. She is an architect with a PhD in Architectural Heritage from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Her research lies at the intersection of architectural history, critical heritage, and postcolonial studies, aiming to develop new methodological and historical approaches to the Modern Heritage of Africa. During her PhD, she introduced a new approach to interpreting Mozambique’s modernist housing, interrogating the evolving reconfiguration of colonial projects through the lived experiences of inhabitants. Currently, Patricia is expanding her research to examine Mozambique’s post-independence architectural production within the broader context of socialist solidarity networks and communities’ engagement with postcolonial heritage.
