Biography


Giulia Ceriani Sebregondi is Architect and Architectural Historian.

She is Associate Professor in History of Architecture (academic discipline: ICAR/18) at the Department of Architecture and Industrial Design of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”.

She received her Ph.D. in History of Architecture and Urban Planning from the Iuav University of Venice with a thesis entitled Palazzo Francesconi e l’architettura civile di Baldassarre Peruzzi a Siena, and has received fellowships from the Andrea Palladio International Center for Architectural Studies; the National Academy of San Luca; the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, Cambridge MA; J.P. Getty Foundation, Los Angeles; the Architects Board of Rome and province; the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts of the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.

Since 2004 she has been Teaching Assistant at the Iuav University of Venice; Adjunct Professor at the Summer School of the University of Ferrara - British Columbia Institute of Technology, Vancouver; and at the Sapienza University of Rome, Faculty of Architecture “Ludovico Quaroni”; Assistant Professor at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”. She has given lectures at the International School of Cultural Heritage (Rome) and the École normale supérieure d'architecture Paris Val de Seine (Paris).
In 2010 she has won the public competition of the Ministry of Culture for architect-official and for several years she has worked at the Superintendency for Architectural and Landscape Heritage of the Provinces of Verona, Vicenza and Rovigo; the Cabinet of the Undersecretary of State; the Directorate General for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape.
She is member of the scientific committee of the magazine “Recupero e conservazione Magazine” (scientific journal for the academic recruitment field 08/E2 Conservation, Restoration and History of Architecture) and is member of the Italian Association of History of Architecture (Aistarch); the European Architectural History Network (EAHN); the Architects Board of Rome and province.
Her studies mainly deal with the history of Early Modern Italian Architecture, a subject on which he has published several essays in Italy and abroad in books and specialised journals, participating in national and international conferences.
