Emma’s research focuses on the intersection of print culture and global architectural histories, particularly during the long nineteenth century. These interests encompass the stu dy of techniques of the printed representation of architecture in early-nineteenth century Germany, Britain and France, the role of architectural publications in global trade and processes of colonisation, the role of printed materials in the export of architectural norms, styles and building fabrication practices beyond European borders, and the complex uses and revisions of European architectural literature in colonial contexts (particularly in Hong Kong, Australia and the East and South-East Asian region).
